In less than six weeks over 350 applications were received. Applicants lived in many areas of the world and represented different socio-demographic and political backgrounds. However their personal stories in relation to privacy and digital security threats faced by themselves, or their communities, were disturbingly alike.  +

Gender and Technology Institute, Panama +Among the women targeted by gender-based online and offline violences, Woman Human Rights Defenders (WHRD) and feminists working on sensitive topics, such as health, reproductive and sexual rights are particularly at risk. Because of this context, Tactical Technology Collective in partnership with Women Help Women organised in September 2017 a training event named “Gender and Technology Institute: Take Control of Your Data” for 35 women engaged with providing information, counsel and/or direct support to women seeking safe abortions. This group of activists was complemented with a multidisciplinary team of 12 women facilitators from the LAC region working on data privacy, digital security, gender based online violence, training skills, self care and holistic security.  +

Taller Nombre: Data Detox Fecha: Jueves 08/11/2018 Participantes: 10 mujeres y 2 hombres de la Ciudad de Guatemala. 1. Festival Nombre: Tejiendo Circuitos Fecha: Viernes 09/11/2018 y sábado 10/11/2018 Participantes: 15 mujeres, de las cuáles todas estaban vinculadas a organizaciones o colectivas que trabajan en la defensa de los Derechos Humanos. Las participantes eran de diferentes lugares de origen: 3 de Nicaragua; 3 de Sololá, Guatemala; 2 de Chimaltenango, Guatemala; 2 de Huehuetenango, Guatemala; 1 de Cobán, Guatemala; 5 de ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala.  +
